. DRIVE-IN DOUBLE FEATURE #132
WITCH KILLER OF BLACKMOOR (1970) Christopher Lee, Leo Genn, Maria Schell, Howard Vernon. Lee is superb as an evil judge who condemns citizens to be burned as witches. Vernon is terrific as his twisted executioner. If you like witch-hunting movies like Mark of the Devil you’ll love this. Clearly one of Jess Franco’s very best efforts. Lavishly done with great photography and a fine music score. Rated R for nudity and violence. Aka The Bloody Judge. Color, scope, 35mm. THE WITCHMAKER (1969) Anthony Eisley, Thordis Brandt, Alvy Moore. Brutal witchcraft murders take place in a lonely southern bayou. Moore’s research group goes deep into the bayou to investigate paranormal events. One of his crew is related to an ancient witch. When the local witches find out, they decide she must be brought into their satanic web. Creepy bayou atmosphere, which in turn is complimented by a fine music score. Uncut. This film has partial nudity, gore, and a number of genuinely scary scenes. Great Color, from 16mm.
